(Dan Tri) – Firefighters, police and monks risked their lives to move historical artifacts to safety during the fire that broke out at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris last night.

When a fire broke out at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris on the evening of April 15, members of the emergency response force quickly worked with local authorities to remove the invaluable antiques.
Participating in `rescuing` the artifacts were firefighters, police and monks.
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo thanked the rescue forces for quickly creating a `human shield` to protect the `one-of-a-kind` artifacts, including a relic believed to be the crown of thorns.
“The crown of thorns of Christ, the robe of Saint Louis and a number of other important objects have now been brought to safety,” said Mayor Anne Hidalgo.
Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is home to many rare antiques and works of art dating back a long time.
In addition to the Crown of Thorns placed on Jesus’ head, Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris also preserves sacred artifacts such as a piece of the cross where Jesus was crucified or the Holy Nail used when Jesus was executed.
Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is also famous for its 10 special bells, of which 9 bells are named Marie, Gabriel, Anne-Genevieve, Denis, Marcel, Etienne, Benoit-Joseph, Maurice and Jean-Marie.
The original giant organ, one of the most famous musical instruments in the world, dating back to the Middle Ages is also a priceless asset inside Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
Many precious sculptures, statues and paintings are also located at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
The rose window is one of the most impressive and closely guarded highlights inside Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.
The two bell towers on the grounds of Notre Dame Cathedral were once the two tallest structures in Paris until the Eiffel Tower was completed at the end of the 19th century. The North and South bell towers were completed in 1240 and 1250, respectively.
